What the straight tag filters, and what it does not

This one is a filter, not a character type, and it is worth being plain about that. It marks who a character is written to be interested in and nothing else. It tells you nothing about tone, art style, pace, or whether the chat is a romance at all, so on its own it barely narrows the catalogue. Pair it with something that does. Whether you are led or leading is what Dominant and Submissive settle, whether the art is photoreal or stylised is what Realistic and Anime settle, and whether there is any attachment involved is what Romantic settles. This tag settles only who the character is looking at. The orientation matters most at the beginning of a conversation, where a character written with a defined one responds to flirting consistently instead of drifting into whatever the last message implied. It matters less as the chat goes on and the specifics of the person take over. Bisexual is the neighbouring filter and a larger pool than most people expect, so if orientation is not really your criterion, looking at both tags beats assuming this one is the default. None of this is enforced by the system. Orientation is part of what the creator wrote, so it holds because the character holds. Characters keep context across sessions, and image and video generation both run from inside the chat.
